Detailed book overview
An Aurora Anderson Mystery
Vista Beach, California is a quiet area where crime and murder seldom happen.
So when computer programmer and tole painting fanatic Aurora (Rory) Anderson steps into her backyard to see what all the frantic yipping is all about, the last thing she expected to find was a lifeless body in her garden and a homicide detective on her doorstep.
Apparently, the body discovered is of Hester Bouquet, her tole painting teacher. A fortnight ago, Rory had a terrible experience when she attended one of Hester’s weekend seminars.
When evidence against Rory begins compounding, she launches a desperate mission to unmask the killer and exonerate herself.

The high summer temperatures are forcing the locals to come up with ways of staying cool, some of which involve leaving their windows open. That’s certainly not the most advisable idea, given the recent rise in burglaries in the neighboring towns.
When the lifeless body of Rory’s neighbor is discovered a couple of doors down, with the primary suspect being a friend and fellow painter, the amateur sleuth embarks on a mission to unmask the real killer before an innocent person ends up in jail.
It’s almost Halloween in the peaceful community of Vista Beach, California, a place programmer and tole-painting enthusiast Aurora (Rory) Anderson calls home.
As her painting chapter makes arrangements to open its annual boutique house, Rory receives a startling email from Beyond The Grave—a company which automatically sends out messages when someone dies.
“I think I have a stalker,” the message reads. “If you’re reading this I’m either missing or dead. My life may depend on what you do. Please find out what happened to me.”
Troubled by the disappearance of her friend who could potentially be dead, Rory joins forces with her best friend and fellow painter, Liz Dexter, before launching the search.
Will they be able to unearth the truth before it’s too late?
