She is best known for writing the Heathcliff Lennox mystery series.
Raised in a military family where she constantly had to move from place to place, it wasn't until Karen was 60 that she decided to write.
It still remains an inexplicable decision to her, as the stories and characters just came flooding in.
With that came a whole new world of unconventional uncles, stalwart butlers, peculiar servants, machinating Countesses, Mr Fogg the dog and Tubbs the cat, with Major Heathcliff Lennox at the heart of it all.
Karen is married to Krov Menuhin, a former US Special Forces and documentary filmmaker who happens to be the eldest son of renowned violinist, Yehudi Menuhin.
She has two sons and several grandchildren.
