Detailed book overview
Out of work and seemingly courting misfortune, Hannah Mills—a photographer from Sharpsburg—gets a lucky break when her great aunt Dorothy wills her a rare Navajo blanket, worth a million dollars.
But before she gets the chance to auction the blanket, Hannah learns of the kidnapping of her niece Mandy, who has been taken to France by human traffickers; with the kidnappers demanding the Navajo blanket as ransom.
She sets out, alongside sexy FBI agent Finn MacNally, on a comical, romantic journey, as they attempt to take down Russia's biggest human and drug trafficking ring.
Can they save Mandy and find love in the process or will they find themselves staring down the barrel of loaded a gun?
Marie Bartek & the SIPS Team
Dr. Marie Bartek leads a simple life as a veterinarian in Sullivan's Island, until something quite remarkable changes her life forever. Her psychic abilities have returned after eighteen staggering years, and Marie—shaken by the spirits that haunt her—confides in her best friend: together forming Sullivan’s Island Paranormal Society.
As new, unexpected friendships are formed, Marie learns to channel her abilities, but events take a dramatic turn when the spirits warn her of an ominous presence on the island.
Having learnt that a serial killer is on the loose, Marie and her friends are adamant to bring an end to the killings. Could it however be that the very life she is trying to save is her own?
Marie Bartek and her friends, having visited The Big Easy for a conference, decide to prolong their stay for an additional week in order to take in the sights. But their much needed vacation soon turns into a murder investigation when Marie has a vision of a woman being murdered.
On contacting the authorities, they learn that the woman in the vision was actually murdered. Marie however has another vision, one that drags her and the SIPS team deep into the investigation.
Could the killings be sacrifices linked to a cult? Most importantly, will Marie and her friends be able to find and stop the killer before it's too late?
Dr. Marie Bartek develops new nuances with her psychic abilities; one which adds more intensity and fascination into their ghost investigations. It however lands the SIPS team into a world of trouble, as they find themselves caught up in the middle of the mafia, politics, secret societies, and murder.
With the help of a spirit, Marie discovers that the mafia simply doesn’t appreciate it when strangers stick their noses in other people’s affair: even going so far as to take what isn't theirs.
Federal City's Secret, the third book in the series Marie Bartek & the SIPS Team, captivates with murder, suspense, and the regular dose of the paranormal, as Dr. Marie Bartek and her team are drawn into investigations right at the heart of the nation’s capital.
The book can be enjoyed even without having read the previous two books in the series.
Dr. Marie Bartek finally ties the knot with her fiancé, Police Chief Cory Miller, but their wedding is suddenly disrupted after the discovery of a decapitated body. Whereas criminal investigation is Cory's niche, Marie—who has alongside her team of psychic researchers played a pivotal role in solving mysteries in the past—has visions that provide some much needed insight into the mystery at hand.
Myra, her mentor and friend, may have suffered a fatal heart attack, but she continues to guide and lead Marie in her endeavor to help the police solve the murder investigation.
Secret of Coffin Island intriguingly offers a blend of the paranormal and the police procedural work, as husband and wife team work hand in hand to solve the case.
The book can equally be read on its own without giving away too much.
Having returned from their honeymoon in France, Marie, her husband Cory and the SIPS team find themselves at the center of yet another case, where a young girl—in the historic district of Savannah—claims to have identified a beast with golden eyes butchering their livestock.
But when a body with puncture wounds in the neck is found on Tybee Island, and a decapitated one is discovered on River Street, the team believes that vampires could be on the loose.
Help however comes from acquaintances that are far from what they really are, and they soon find out that there is more to learn from those behind masks at a masquerade ball.
Do vampires really exist? Will Marie and the SIPS team get the assistance of a famous young spirit before it’s too late?
