Both authors were born in 1957, with Holtes born in Alkmaar, and Sietsma in Sneek, the Netherlands.
Holtes spent a number of years as a confectioner, marine (conscription), policeman, entrepreneur and executive in various industries while Sietsma worked as a secretary and a freelancer in the computer world before pursuing writing.
The two have been together for more than four decades, sharing a number of both good and bad experiences.
