Dave Willmarth books in order
Dave Willmarth is a bestselling author of GameLit (LitRPG) novels.
He has written several books such as the Shadow Sun Series, Greystone Chronicles, Dark Elf Chronicles, and Battleborne Series.
A huge fan of Fantasy and Science Fiction books for as long as he can remember and a gamer since the 1970's, Willmarth has fond memories of playing early video games like Pong and Tank, and Dungeons and Dragons.
However, his turning point came when he discovered the GameLit (LitRPG) genre.
The sheer thought of unifying game elements with a fantasy setting in book form was too much to resist for Dave.
After an endless cycle of starting and stopping a number of books, Dave crossed paths with a medium who finally inspired him to write.
Having made his debut in 2017 with Io Online, the first of the Greystone Chronicles, Dave now rests in his man cave enjoying the adventures of the characters he always wanted to play--all in a limitless world.

Detailed book overview
Late 21st century Earth is overcrowded, her natural resources dwindling rapidly. World governments and greedy mega corporations are forced to work together toward a solution.
A crew of ten humans are sent to Mars aboard Hyperion I to locate a suitable site and establish the first colony. After a months-long flight to the red planet, just as they are about to descend to the surface, problems arise. A careless accident kills a crew member, damages the ship, forcing the others to launch early. And that's just the beginning of their troubles.
On day one they learn that magic is real, and that the planet, in fact the entire galaxy, is governed by a complicated and merciless System. Their assimilation into the System makes them enemies of the paranoid powers that be on Earth, and they find themselves cut off. No communications with family, no resupply, they're on their own on a mostly dead world.
And nearly every form of life they do encounter is out to kill them.
Join Commander Fletcher and her crew as they struggle to survive a new world with new but familiar rules.
Max was a professional soldier, and extremely good at his job. Right up until it killed him.
At the moment of his death, he meets Hildi the Valkyrie, and is given three options. Serve Odin in Valhalla as one of the Einherjar, fighting each day and celebrating each night until the battle of Ragnarok. Accept his death as final, and end his existence. Or be reincarnated as a Battleborne on a random unknown world.
Max chooses to gamble! To live a new life, whatever that might entail. Favored with a blessing of the Valkyries, who gift him with an unusual bloodline, he is reborn on a world of magic and monsters. In fact, his own new body is half monster!
Thrust into the world with nothing but a canvas diaper, sharp teeth, and claws, Max must use his skills as a soldier to improvise and survive. There are no respawns, and at level zero, nearly everything can kill him.
With his new status as one of the Battleborne, much is expected of Max. Dangerous and difficult quests are presented to him, and the loot ranges from filthy goblin loincloths to epic weapons!
Join Max as he learns to navigate his new life, struggling with the instincts of his monster bloodlines, and taking advantage of them at the same time.
Maximilian Storm has embraced his new life as a Battleborne. Reincarnated on a strange world in a powerful chimera body, he has gathered friends, made enemies, and developed wondrous new magical and physical abilities. He’s even discovered that a couple of his men, Smitty and Dylan, have chosen to join him on this world.
Max is on a mission to secure and expand his newly conquered kingdom, Stormhaven. But War Chief An’zalor wants his mine back. When he sends a small army of orcs to capture it, Max’s party, along with his dwarven and orc allies, must help him defend his new territory.
An epic quest is discovered, sending Max and his core party into the wilds to track down and retrieve a powerful artifact. New friends are discovered, and new challenges met along the way. When Max ventures off on his own, he discovers a lost territory, and an ancient dwarven secret that may change the lives of everyone. A secret that might also end his own life, and his reign.
Max and company pursue their epic quest to restore the Heart of the Mountain, finding new enemies and surprising allies along the way. The potential rewards are tremendous, but the cost is high. A growing threat from the mountains to the north endangers Stormhaven, its citizens, and its neighbors.
Looking to expand his kingdom, and most especially his population, Max leads a party to the newest human kingdom where he learns about a ruthless Battleborne queen, and discovers that dungeons are both real, and deadly.

Is their best hope for survival to find a way to upload themselves to the game permanently?

With the undead world above closing in, will they have the time to figure out how to save themselves and other survivors?

In the latter half of the 21st century, Alexander and his guild mates play Io Online for fun and to earn a living. It’s the largest VRMMORPG on the planet, and the source of income that supports families around the globe.
While completing a rare “First Kill” dungeon in hopes of epic loot, they discover that demons, who have not been seen in the realm for ages, have once again invaded Io. Given the chance to test a new experimental immersion system, the friends must give up their high level characters and begin again at level one.
As they work through the noob zone quests, they discover that the new immersion system allows them to play in ways that hadn’t been possible before. Casting is faster. Movement more fluid. Even magic itself behaves differently. They quickly run afoul of a party of player killers, and become the targets of an entire PK guild bent on spawn camping them until they leave the game. War has been declared.
The fight expands into populated areas, where innocent citizens are murdered, and player accounts are terminated. The guild works to help citizens rebuild what has been destroyed, but are repeatedly forced to stop and defend against enemy attacks.
After the gods of Io and a powerful being of darkness get involved, Alexander and his friends learn the hard way that their in-game actions have consequences, both in the game, and in the real world.
Jupter Tech's headquarters, Olympus, has been attacked. Lives have been lost in the real world. Alexander and friends must now thwart the servants of the Dark One both in and out of the game.
With a few new allies, the Greystone Guild moves out of the noob zones to take on the challenges presented by the ruins of Dire Keep and its inhabitants.
They must conquer, rebuild, and defend the Dire Lands against attacking forces. The players (and Fibble) must now overcome tougher dungeons, and more dangerous foes. Even betrayal by one of their own!
Alexander and the Greystone Guild are expanding their territory. Building up the keep, conquering new lands, and recruiting citizens of all races. And when they've prepared enough, they plan on taking the fight to the minions of the Dark One in their own strongholds. .
New friends are discovered, and alliances are made. Tragedy befalls one of the group, and the Dark One's identity is finally discovered. A new, yet at the same time ancient enemy makes itself known, threatening to change the face of Io forever.
The kingdom is expanding! More land, more resources, and surprising new allies. Fibble gains some interesting stats, a new set of skills, and a patron deity of his own.
Elysia is prospering. But Alexander and his Elysians are forced to defend their lands against an invading orc horde from the north, and the dark army of demons and undead that has escaped from the caverns where Alexander imprisoned them. At the same time, the Dark One is somehow still working with the drow wizards to subjugate more lands and expand their evil influence.
Join the Greystone Guild and their Elysians as they battle armies to defend their lands and their people. They fight for freedom and their very survival, facing a ruthless enemy bent on destroying the world. But is the cost too high for Alexander to endure?

Alexander works to bring together the Elves, Dwarves, and Human Kingdoms to establish the alliance proposed by the Dragon King. But the dark magic of the drow has infiltrated even the highest offices, blocking his efforts.
War comes once again to the gates of the keep, and Alexander must find a way to defend his citizens before he can go on the offensive and take the fight to the stronghold of his enemies. All of Io, citizens and players alike, are pulled into war as the forces of darkness strive to destroy or enslave every surface city. Allistor is a gamer geek who has spent most of his life indoors, playing virtual reality MMORPGS and reading classic LitRPG books. But when Earth is seized by an ancient race wielding incredibly advanced tech, who transport the entire planet to a new location with twin suns, he finds himself fighting to survive in real life. The human race is declared a contaminant, and the new overlords decree that 90% of us will be exterminated. Creatures out of myth and legend are sent to do the killing. Dragons, titans, alien creatures big and small, all with a hunger for human flesh. Humans who survive the first year will be rewarded.
After seeing his family killed in the first week, Allistor leads a small group of survivors in their struggle to stay alive. Not satisfied with simple survival, he strives to make himself and his people stronger. The new 'magic' RPG system that now governs the planet is something he can work with, and teach others to exploit. Thrust into a leadership position, and with vengeance in his heart, Allistor aims to establish a stronghold, then take the fight to the monsters who seek to enslave his people.
The human race has become nearly extinct.
Allistor and his small group push to make themselves stronger, fighting to survive the year-long Stabilization.
Forced to battle increasingly stronger and more deadly monsters, they work to expand their holdings, learn better spells, and gather resources to improve their crafting.
Dungeons must be cleared, and dragons defeated. Fellow survivors are found - some friendly, some hostile.
Allistor considers every human life precious, but when it becomes a case of kill or be killed, hard choices must be made.
And each day brings them closer to the invasion of Earth.
The one year Stabilization period has ended, and the aliens are colonizing earth! Allistor and his people have prepared as well as possible, and now they'll find out if it was enough.
In this third book of the Shadow Sun series, Earth's survivors continue to fight for their lives, and to reclaim as much of the earth as they can for the human race. More than one alien faction threatens their existence, while others prove to be staunch allies.
Allistor and company learn more about the system, its mechanics and politics, and take the first step in bringing the fight to their enemies off-world!
Allistor, now both a Planetary Prince of Earth, and Emperor of Orion, faces a new set of challenges. Thrust completely unprepared into the realm of interplanetary politics, he must navigate the pitfalls of dealing with more powerful races and factions.
At the same time, he strives to continue his mission to strengthen the human race. To bring other survivors into the fold, and claim as much of the earth as possible for humans. Class trainers must be found if his people are to have a proper chance to grow and thrive.
Hard choices have to be made. New and deadly enemies surface, and friends are lost. Allistor's acquisition of a particular artifact places a target squarely on his back. And behind it all, the Ancient Ones continue to meddle in Earth's affairs.
Allistor just wants to restore the human race. He’s doing his best with the resources he’s gathered to locate other survivors around the world and unite them. His intentions are good, and he pushes hard. The drake eggs are hatching, and his people have dreams of both a murder chicken cavalry and a drake-mounted air force. A small army of class trainers are helping to make his citizens stronger than ever, better able to survive the hazards of their new reality.
But fate, and the aliens who keep throwing stronger and more deadly challenges at him, are working against Allistor. The threat of vengeance from the Fomorian Matron, the machinations of Loki and Hel, and the jealousy of a fellow human with a lesser noble title, all add to the pressure.
When seeming good fortune turns to tragic loss, Allistor must push through and remain strong in order to face the very beings responsible for the apocalypse on earth. The murderers of humanity.
And in this confrontation, even victory has dire consequences.
Allistor has struggled almost nonstop since the apocalypse, battling monsters, aliens, and other humans when necessary. He has risen from a scared gamer geek with nothing, no home or family, not even a decent weapon, to become Emperor of Earth and several other worlds.
Now, as he attempts to consolidate and stabilize his holdings, he faces the consequences of the very actions that helped him rise to power.
Invictus has grown, millions of new citizens now look to him for support and protection. While he tries to gather together the human survivors across Earth, new enemies arise to threaten his empire. His worst fears confront him, and Allistor is not prepared.
