Detailed book overview
Unemployed university professor Tyler Marsh is pounding the pavement looking for a job. Disillusioned with academia, she’s aiming for an analyst’s spot in the private sector but after a year of rejections based on her over-qualification, she’s dumbed down her resume in a desperate attempt to get her foot in the door somewhere—anywhere! When Buffalo’s leading marine engineering firm offers her a low-level placement as a personal assistant, she’s sure it can’t get any worse, until she meets the woman she will be working for.
Chief Innovation Officer and wounded veteran Georgie DiNamico doesn't want an assistant or anyone else bothering her. She has her work, her dog, and her nightmares to keep her company. Heir-apparent to her family’s engineering firm, a head injury suffered in Afghanistan has left her feeling too broken for anything else.
Georgie has no use for the helper that her family insists she hire. But when Tyler’s resume lands on her desk, along with a company background check listing the advanced degrees she omitted, Georgie sees an opportunity to add a researcher to her R&D team.
Tyler quickly realizes Georgie is not the damaged goods everyone sees. Thoughtful, forthcoming, and generous is Tyler’s first impression of her would-be boss and it alleviates much of her trepidation. The outrageous salary and benefits help too, but working with the woman the family sees as shattered looks like the least of her challenges. She recognizes something special in Georgie DiNamico, garnering trust, loyalty, and something more…something Tyler hasn’t thought about for a very, very long time.
Four women are about to embark on an emotional voyage that will be the ultimate test of love and loyalty. Will it end in smooth sailing—or leave four hearts hopelessly adrift?
Despite dealing with family dynamics that can be one tent short of a circus, the future looks bright for Tyler Marsh and Georgie DiNamico. Deeply in love, the two are also deeply committed to the success of the DiNamico-Phipps Company of DynaTech, a leading marine engineering firm headquartered in Buffalo, NY.
Georgie's steady recovery from the head injury she suffered in Afghanistan—and the company's survival of a hostile takeover attempt—means the couple can finally concentrate on planning their wedding. Or so they thought, until an unseen event propels their relationship into turbulent waters.
Lori Phipps, the president of the company’s DynaCraft Yachts division is a master boat builder—and a master player when it comes to loving women. Until she crosses paths with someone unlike anyone she’s ever met before. Unfortunately, Lori’s past is about to catch up with her in the very slinky form of a not-so-casual hook-up.

Ally reluctantly agrees, but only after being assured that she’ll be eliminated in the first round.

But things seem to change for everyone once the game begins. Ally finds herself meeting a contestant that stirs something deep inside. And Erin discovers it may be difficult to fulfill her mission of helping her employer at any cost.

Kara’s siblings aren’t willing to let the decision go to chance. Worried that Kara no longer has the fight necessary to lead the company, they concoct a scheme to get Kara back on track. Surely deceiving Kara for the short-term is worth the long-term gain.
Madeleine Jessepp’s career has hit an all-time low. Her dream of becoming an actress isn’t going to happen and she doesn’t even have the money to return home to Minnesota. At first she scoffs at the offer to play the “Love at First Sight Role,” and spend a week as a fantasy date. But after some convincing she agrees to do it. After all, she is an actress.
Thrown together by Kara’s well-intentioned siblings, Madeleine and Kara both get more than they bargained for. What will happen when Kara discovers she’s been deceived by everyone—especially by Madeleine?
A secret consortium, a bent banker, and a desperate lawyer are all that stand between Elliott Snowmaker and the inheritance of her great-uncle’s failing aircraft restoration business. If her life weren’t already a complete mess, she probably would have stayed in Toronto and handled the estate over the phone. Out of a job and sleeping on her cousin’s couch, she doesn’t think twice about making the long trip to New Mexico and Illusion Lake. Now that she’s here, somebody wants her gone and fast. Staying is not the plan. She has a job lined up overseas, but when she sees what her great-uncle has left her, it’s easy to want to stay. There’s something about Illusion Lake. With the estate much different than described, this place deserves her consideration. Besides, her new lawyer is hot as hell and worth a second or third look too.
Kiva Park is here for the winter only. With a thriving criminal practice up north, handling the mundane chores of her dad’s general law office is a little on the dull side. Her plans for a quiet winter fly out the window when Elliott walks in the door. Her caginess sets off all sorts of bells, but most disturbing is the way Kiva wants to reach out and brush Elliott’s bangs from her captivating blue eyes. Kiva’s job is to manage Elliott’s inheritance, not investigate the strange demands of her father’s law partner, who keeps insisting Elliott sell her holdings and now. After inspecting Elliott’s new property with her, Kiva knows something much more sinister is behind the demand.
With the town power players and the lake on the table, she needs to figure out why Elliott’s property is key. And she better do it fast, before they destroy everything she loved about growing up on Illusion Lake. This might not be her home anymore but that doesn’t make her blind to what’s happening. With everyone gunning for her new client, she knows more than Elliott’s inheritance and her own heart are at risk.
It’s 2004 and the western world is desperate for real evidence of Iran’s nuclear intentions. With the accuracy of intelligence gathering under deep scrutiny, both the CIA and MI6 are ordered to deliver indisputable evidence and call on their joint taskforce, the Special Operations Executive. Tori Braithwaite, the SOE Commander, balks at the preposterous plan the CIA has dropped in her lap, although sending a team to Iran as First Nations cultural ambassadors is tempting! First task, evaluate the psychological readiness of the proposed team leader, Cleo Deseronto, a retired RCAF pilot, but before she is agrees to lead the SOE’s band of Mohawk’s, Braithwaite will put her to the test.
When Cleo lands at London’s Heathrow, she’s looking forward to delivering a lecture and catching-up with old friends, not being detained and accused of trafficking! Cooling her heals in a holding room, she realizes there’s more at stake, but when she learns that her estranged cousin and US Marine, Bo Commanda has joined the team, old tensions ignite. Uneasily pitted together, Deseronto and Commanda must quell the demons of their joint upbringing, to orchestrate a profile-raising around-the-world air tour as cover for their surveillance mission. Now, they will race a vintage airplane from the heart of Indian country, over the North Pole and straight on to Tehran. The simple and well planned operation should be a breeze, if Cleo wasn’t falling for the enigmatic SOE Commander, and Bo wasn’t doing everything in her power to undermine Cleo’s confidence and question Braithwaite’s intentions.
It's been one year since SOE agent Cleo Deseronto escaped torture at a CIA black site, but life isn't getting any easier. On a simple mission to notify a senator of his daughter's death, Cleo and her stalwart cousin Bo are drawn into the web of spymaster Hank Darien. It's a conspiracy that threatens to alter the future of the civilized world, and trying to stop it might just make Cleo and Bo the most wanted women in America.
The second volume in the Contrary Warriors series, Blood Legacy combines the breathless pace of an espionage thriller with a rock-and-roll, alt-culture sensibility. A proud Mohawk woman, Cleo's abilities as a pilot, engineer and strategist would make her the equal of any challenge, if it weren't for the one thing she doesn't understand: people. Luckily, Bo's got her back, whether that means acting as confidante, bodyguard or sharpshooter. No matter what your age, gender or background, you'll find something of who you are, and who you want to be, in these iconic characters.
