Madeline Mann

Madeline Mann

Madeline Mann is a small town reporter whom nobody takes seriously until her old high school friend disappears; when Maddy begins her search for Logan Lanford, everyone takes notice.

This might be because just about everyone is a suspect in Logan's disappearance, from his neglected wife to the shady mayor to Logan's jealous brother. Even Madeline's boyfriend seems to harbor some resentment toward the AWOL Logan and his reputation as a philanderer.

In searching for her old friend, Madeline is also searching for vindication of her career choice and a chance to be independent from a family that threatens to drive her crazy.

Joanna's death is ten years in the past, but Moira has been troubled by dreams of her young friend, and she is convinced that Joanna was murdered.

Having heard of Madeline's investigative skills, Moira asks her to look into Joanna's death and find out if a murderer still lurks in the town of Webley, and if the dark secrets behind the death of a nun have somehow placed other people in danger.

One Fool At Least

In this third Madeline Mann Mystery, Madeline finally marries her fiance, Jack Shea. The wedding itself goes smoothly, but in retrospect Madeline reflects "We grinned like fools, which is what we were, for thinking that nothing could go wrong from there."

Things do go awry, from the moment their plane lands in Grand Blue, Montana. This strange and beautiful town is full of characters who all seem to have a motive for the murder of Finn Flanagan, a local restaurant owner. Through no fault of her own, Madeline becomes a part of the investigation into Flanagan's death, and her new husband is equally invested in finding out the truth.

Maddy and Jack are admittedly fools--fools for love, fools for getting involved in the dark secrets of Grand Blue, and fools for not knowing who to trust. But as Henry Fielding once wrote, there is "one fool at least in every married couple."

Enzo is researching an Italian serial killer known internationally as The Lake Killer. Enzo's theory is that the Lake Killer is hiding in America--specifically in Pine Haven. Suddenly Lilah and her boyfriend, Detective Jay Parker, investigate many disparate elements which seem to converge in one place: Pine Haven University.

Can a notorious murderer be walking the streets of Pine Haven, Lilah's shady, sleepy town? This question begins to dominate Lilah's life as she and Jay find themselves on a very dangerous trail that might bring them face to face with the Lake Killer.
