This book is an omnibus, including four titles: The Departure, Mythical Investigations, The Gnome Situation, and Dragon Bounty:

The Departure is a prequel novella, following Leslie through his tumultuous childhood and his origin story. This book takes place on Earth and explores how he traveled to Kapaton.

Mythical Investigations follows the case of a missing man: Albert Line. Albert's eccentric wife hires Leslie to find him and he's happy to earn a little spending money. But when a new romantic interest ropes Leslie into solving the case of an escaped Grootslang, Leslie is forced to fend off the folktale creature. In the process, Leslie uncovers shocking secrets from both Albert and his own past.

The Gnome Situation follows a new case, which involves more missing mythical creatures from the first outbreak. Only this time, the creatures are dropping dead. Leslie must stop a mysterious substance from killing an entire population of Gnomes and uncovers a government conspiracy on the alien planet, Kapaton. Leslie much make a choice between saving lives and saving his own skin.

Dragon Bounty follows the third missing creature, a small Featherwing Dragon, and Leslie's own escape from the crumbling infrastructure of Kapaton. He plans to head back to Earth, if only the Kapatonian government will let him get that far. Leslie narrowly survives a crash landing with a new unlikely sidekick, an eleven year old girl that is a genetic mutation of Vampires. Leslie must say goodbye to old friends and welcome a new crew of rag-tag sidekicks.

Leslie and Verna work together to make Kapaton pay for their atrocious actions. They are living on a large communal ship bound for the planet of Elanthea. 

When a mysterious creature sets fire to the ship, they have to make an emergency landing. It’s a new planet with new monsters and Leslie must solve the case before Kapaton retaliates. Leslie might finally get the resolution he desires, if he can make it out alive.

Leslie Kim has returned to Earth, along with the Kapatonian rebel leader, Verna, and a half-Vampire girl named Victoria. The three of them have lived in hiding at Leslie’s childhood home. Life is not quite domestic bliss, but it certainly beats chasing down monsters on Kapaton.

Leslie begins working for his old boss and agrees to hunt down an elusive river monster that is eating fishermen in the bayous of Georgia. Forced into taking care of Victoria, he travels with the girl and her dragon companion across the country in search of the mysterious monster.

When Leslie discovers that someone is hunting him, he must rely on new allies to help keep Victoria safe.
